Family Needs Tracker

Privacy policy

Updated September 7, 2026

Family Needs Tracker provides private household workspaces and a separate public Community. Family requests, progress, feedback, and conflict check-ins remain private. Community participation does not create or grant access to any household.

Public Community

Adults who accept the rules can choose a public display name and contribute posts, comments, and helpfulness ratings. Published names, posts, and comments can be read by anyone. Google account details, email addresses, individual rater identities, and viewer identities are not published. A first post is visible only to its author and administrator until approved. Private family records are never automatically published to Community.

Approximate views count after a detail page remains visible for three seconds. A first-party HTTP-only browser cookie lasting one day deduplicates each post/browser/UTC day. Daily hashed identifiers are cleaned up on subsequent-day activity; aggregate daily totals remain. Author views and known bots are excluded. Different browsers or cleared cookies can inflate counts. Distinct-participant totals are calculated from comments and ratings.

We use temporary hashed network identifiers and account rate limits to deter spam. We store reports, blocks, activity inbox entries, and moderation history. Deleting a post removes its conversation from public access; hidden records are retained for safety and appeals. Use the contact below to request data removal.

Information we process

We process an owner's Google account identity and the family information that an owner or invited relative enters into the service. This can include names, request details, dates, progress, comments, optional amounts and currencies, and ratings. Private family links and secure sessions are used to control relative access.

How information is used

Information is used only to operate the tracker, authenticate approved owners, provide each relative with access to their own requests, maintain activity history, and calculate private household summaries. We do not sell family data or use it for advertising.

Service providers and retention

Vercel hosts the application, Neon provides database storage, Clerk manages owner authentication, and Google provides Google Sign-In. These providers process limited information as needed to deliver their services. Records are retained until the household owner archives them or requests their removal; archived records remain in history to preserve accountability.

Your choices and security

Owners can revoke or rotate family links and archive records. Relatives should keep their personal link private. We use access controls, hashed link credentials, secure cookies, and encrypted connections, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

Android app and offline data

The owner-only Android app uses the same Clerk and Google authentication as the web service. After a successful online load, it stores a read-only copy of the owner's latest dashboard on that device so it can be viewed without a connection. Each signed-in owner has a separate local cache. The app removes that owner's cached dashboard when they sign out, disables changes while offline, and never stores the private family links returned when access is created or rotated.

On-device authentication

Owners can optionally protect the Android app with fingerprint, face, or device credentials. Biometric matching is performed by the device operating system. Family Needs Tracker receives only whether authentication succeeded and does not receive or store biometric templates.
